In November of 2000 I started my process of recovery for substance abuse issues by connecting with the VA. I went through C-tad and the VA for these issues, and finished up by renting an apartment at Veterans’ Place on Washington Boulevard in East Liberty. This last step in my recovery journey with the VA’s assistance was a very important part of the process. It provided me with the opportunity to work and provide for myself, setting my own rules, working my own program, yet, still allowing me to reside in a safe place.
